We are the UPLIFT lab. We work alongside parents, early years practitioners and policy makers to conduct meaningful, ethical research into early child development. Much of our work centres on understanding and promoting the developmental foundations of Executive Functions such as inhibitory control, working memory and cognitive flexibility, since these are the skills that enable us to respond to life’s challenges, and manage our attention, emotions and behaviour in ways that help us thrive and meet our goals in life.

The UPLIFT team are based in the Centre for Developmental Science, University of Birmingham, and the Oxford Centre for Emerging Minds Research, University of Oxford.
